   But the gram vinyl re-issue of Steely Dan's "Aja" is a real gem. The LP surface was smooth and clean and throughout the entire album, there was no more than 3 very, very faint "ticks". The overall sound quality compared to my CD of the same album was actually more dynamic with crisp, fast & airy treble attack with tight bass /5(K).

   Feb 27,  · It was ABC's standard procedure to use the album's prefix and stock # (plus other info) in the deadwax of their records. Therefore all original LP issues of AB will have AB in the deadwax. All later LP issues of AA will have AA in the deadwax/5().

   Jan 16,  · Aja required a budget that made The Royal Scam’s look like “chicken feed” and took longer to record than any previous Steely Dan album, even though with only seven cuts — “Black Cow,” “Aja,” “Deacon Blues,” “Peg,” “Home at Last,” “I Got the News,” and “Josie” — it contain the fewest songs of any Dan album.

   Jan 24,  · I have all of Steely Dan's vinyl output and at least 7 different pressings of Aja from various countries and in various colors. I sold my Cisco copy when I realized I liked my promo copy much better, but I guess that's not unusual. The Cisco was somewhat clinical sounding to me.
